These guys are B.A.T.S about Brambles... no they're not all going crazy but are in fact Brambles Amateur Dramatic Society and they're building up quite a name for themselves!
At Brambles we are lucky enough to have our very own vocal group B.A.T.S who not only provide fantastic entertainment for our guests but have also raised thousands of pounds for us over the years.
Set up in 1990 by Ron Covey and Barbara Beechy the aim of B.A.T.S was to bring people who worked at Brambles together through their shared love of music and theatre. B.A.T.S has expanded over the past few years and now have a repertoire to provide a whole evening of entertainment, also running a raffle to raise money for their own equipment. Made up of five vocalists Donna Cassell, Dayna Cassell, Maddie Waples, Ron Covey and newcomer Natalie Hitchman, B.A.T.S cover a wide variety of music with something to appeal to everyone. Styles range from country rock to soul to pop music and the cover artists including Meatloaf, Elvis, The Carpenters and Queen!
They raise money at their performances and through sales of their CD and have sold over 150 copies so far! They split the money they raise between Brambles and the Archway Theatre in Horley, where they perform regularly and where B.A.T.S made over £600 in just two nights last year. Co-founder Ron Covey says that they try to make sure B.A.T.S really engage with local community.
